The Yankees had a chance in the game, until The Mariners had a 5 run 7th, breaking a 17 game losing streak, in a 9-2 final. The Mariners dished out 17 hits, en route to their first win in nearly 3 weeks.

The Yankees remain 5.5 games up on the Angels for the Wild Card, and 3 games back of the Red Sox, for the division.

The Seattle Mariners have been skidding, 17 losses in a row, and another win for the Yankees ace, C.C. Sabathia, who is now 15-5. The Mariners were around first place, until the 17 game losing streak. The Yankees, being 3 games out of first place before this game were able to keep themselves at that level.

C.C. won his 15th game, and throwing 7 innings, of 1 run and 14 strikeouts. Mariano Rivera inched himself one more save closer to the record, recording his 26th of the season. The Yankees are now 6.5 games up on the wild card, with the Angels winning.
